Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) FAQ
Will ELDT cost extra if we are already a member?
No. ELDT is included with the contract for existing clients. This holds true for those who choose to become a client in the future.
If a driver already has their CDL, will they need to complete ELDT?
As long as the CDL is valid, the driver will not need to complete ELDT unless they are trying to move from a Class B to Class A CDL, or they are trying to obtain an endorsement for the first time.
If a driver has their CDL and needs to obtain an endorsement, will they need to complete the training for the CDL or just the endorsement?
Only the endorsement training is required if the driver has a valid CDL.
Will the endorsement training cover all the requirements, or will I need to cover other material as well?
We are updating our training materials to meet new FMCSA requirements, so the training will cover everything you need for ELDT.
How long will your theory sessions be?
This will vary from 5-10 minutes for each video.
Is there a comprehensive test, or does each section have a test?
Tests are at the end of each training video, and scores are counted towards the needed 80% for passing.
Are the tests online and does it automatically give you the score after taking the tests?
Yes, the tests are online and you can see how you did immediately after completing them.
Is the certificate issued from your training program?
A certificate is automatically generated by the Infinit-I system for your documentation and training data will be sent to the Training Provider Registry.
Do we need to keep a copy of the certificate in our employee files?
At this time, that is not required. The driver has access to content certificates through the classroom and the admins will have access to assignment certificates. The Training Provider Registry will archive training data in their system. If a driver has a CDL or any endorsements, they have already completed the training.
If a driver completes the Class A ELDT requirements, can they still legally drive a Class B vehicle, or do they need to complete the Class B ELDT as well?
Class A is still superior, which allows you to drive any commercial motor vehicle below that class. Depending on your needs, you may still need to complete one of the endorsement trainings.
Will you be required to complete ELDT again if moving to another state?
As long as you have a valid CDL, there is no requirement to complete ELDT again.
How do the changes impact ELDT currently required by employers?
Everything you’re required to do now, you’re still required to do until February 2022. After this date, the new ELDT requirements will replace previous ones. You will still be required to do driving tests just like before.
How long will the Commercial Learners Permit last until a driver must reapply for their CDL?
This will vary by state, but you can renew a CLP for certain lengths of time.
If an employee has their permit before February 7, but has not completed the skills test portion, will they be required to go through ELDT?
No. As long as they complete the skills test before their permit expires, they will not be required to complete the ELDT curriculum.
Is there any chance the new regulations will be pushed back?
Most of the people involved in the regulations are adamant about making it happen. Even if it is pushed back, it’s still a good idea to prepare for it.
What control will each state have over training requirements?
Each state is required to meet federal mandates, but they can add other regulations if they decide to.
When will your curriculum be released for current subscribers?
All material will be available by January 31, 2022.
Would you suggest that a company have a trainer on staff, even though they only hire Class A drivers?
There is no regulatory requirement to do so, but from a safety standpoint, it is a good idea.
Will the program track time per individual?
Yes, you can see how much time each user in your organization spends on training.
When adding an assignment for a person, will we be able to add by theory group, or will we have to add topics one by one?
There will be base templates set up for each ELDT program so it can be assigned without confusion.
Can you schedule a skills test before submitting the training?
We recommend that you complete training prior to scheduling the skills test, but you can contact your state licensing agency to learn their process.
Can you enroll in ELDT courses only?
Yes. We have packages for single and multiple use ELDT licenses.
What is the name of the app for smartphone/tablet?
Infinit-I Workforce Solutions
How do you get registered to get a number for training?
