Are Your Drivers Ready for Brake Safety Week?
Have your drivers marked Sept. 2017 on their calendar for Brake Safety Week? On those dates, law enforcement agencies across North America will conduct inspections to identify out-of-adjustment brakes, brake-system, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) violations as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Brake Safety Week. There are two videos I thought you might want to assign out to your drivers this month to ensure they are ready for Brake Safety Week in September:
- Brake Safety
Length: 09:49
This video discusses different facets on an inspection related to brake safety. - Level 1 Inspections
Length: 14:11
This video discusses all of the areas inspected like examination of driver’s license, medical examiner’s certificate and waiver (if applicable), alcohol and drugs, driver’s record of duty status as required, hours of service, seat belt, vehicle inspection report, brake system, coupling devices, exhaust system, frame, fuel system, turn signals, brake lamps, tail lamps, head lamps, lamps on projecting loads, safe loading, steering mechanism, suspension, van and open-top trailer bodies, wheels and rims, and windshield wipers.
Additionally, some companies utilizing the Infinit-I Workforce System have created a video of their safety director or president of the company talking about the importance of brake safety week. If you would like to create a similar video, but don’t know where to start, let me know. This video can easily be created with any smartphone and then be assigned out to your drivers or put on your driver welcome page. Please let me know how we can help ensure your drivers are best prepared for clean inspections in September.
